Contrary to many other hiphop headz I did'nt get over the
track "dad's vinyl and/or turntable". Well almost. To the first
musical experience, of which I can remind is Pink Floyd's "money"
on the "dark side of the moon" album by my parents. This track still
impresses me!
I think i was at the age of 5. Two years later my grandmother from
Niedersachsen gave me children drums (an almost complete set though!)
to play with. Unfortunately I was allowed to use it only a half
year, because my parents got crazy with the noise. The
"Deutsche Welle" arose sometime later, which I got tired of pretty
soon.
Groups such as Simply talk, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins,
Genesis, Depeche Mode and later on U2 and others were rather of my
taste. But the actual buzz came in the late eighties.
There I heard of Public Enemy, N.W.A with Dr. Dre and his early
publications like "concrete roots" album and the later "chronic"
album and more stuff. From this time on I began to buy my first CD's
and gradually collected albums of various rap artists ...
